The clear bra of old was, as previously stated, a thin piece of vinyl over the front hood and, if you were lucky, maybe part of the front fenders. It ran maybe 18 inches up the hood and started to discolor pretty quickly. Dirt festered at the edges, and whether or not it made anything look better is very much a subject of argument.

Paint Protection Film Goes Where Clear Bra Did Not
Paint protection film can be used on just the hood; most often, it is used to cover the entire hood, fenders, and bumper. In a perfect world, it is used in conjunction with a ceramic coating to protect the entire vehicle.
